what is a shard?
A world made of shards.
Each shard is 500 × 500 × 500 metres, built by one author and placed on a shared grid. A server-owned highway runs between them; glowing seams stitch them together. The first grid is five by five around a fixed centre.

can Claude really build a whole shard from one line?
One sentence to a shard.
Our own dry run, Thin Ice: from one line to a playable plan in a day of steering.

what happens when I upload it?
Uploading is a set piece.
Plant a beacon at each of the eight corners, a ninth at the centre, and watch your shard rise onto the grid.
is a stranger's shard safe on my phone?
Strangers' worlds, safe on your phone.
A shard ships data and baked assets, never code that can touch your browser. Every shard is metered, deterministic and built against a versioned API.

does a shard stay the same forever?
Shards that grow.
- Co-edit with friends.
- Renovate abandoned shards.
- Your name and title travel with you.
- Two wallets, so no shard can break the economy.
what could I build?
Coming worlds.

Project Wildshard has its own address: wildshard.io.
The site moves now: a trailer loop and a short loop of every shard, straight from the game.
The site now builds its road and devlog straight from the plans and the commits, so it can't drift.
Project Wildshard has a home: this site, built the way the game is, by Claude Code agents.
The grid is public: walk a 3 × 3 grid of shards without a loading screen.
Signal Dunes is the first shard to win its boss fight with no screen at all, and replay it byte for byte.
who's building it?
Built the way its authors will build.
questions
FAQ.
What can I play it on?
Any modern browser, on desktop and phone. No install.
Is it free?
Playing is free, in your browser. Building is free too, and we never charge for uploading a shard.
Do I need a Claude subscription to build?
Yes: you build with your own Claude Code, on any plan that includes it. Playing needs nothing.
Who owns my shard?
You do. You keep the rights to what you build; uploading lets us host it and show it in the world. Abandoned shards can be renovated by new authors, and your name stays on as the original author.
What can't a shard do?
Run code that can touch your browser, go over its budgets, block the roads into it, or mint loot that breaks other shards: a shard ships data and baked assets, checked by the validator before it can join the grid.
can I keep it on my phone?
Install it.
- Open the game in Safari or Chrome.
- Tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
- It opens full screen, like an app.

One line. Project Wildshard is a browser MMO where every shard of the world is built by a player in Claude Code.
A paragraph. Project Wildshard is a first-person sandbox MMO that runs in the browser on desktop and phone. Its world is a grid of 500-metre shards, and every shard is built by a player: authors describe a world to their own Claude Code, which builds it with the Wildshard SDK, and upload it to the shared grid in an in-game ritual. Seven single-player shards already run on the engine, each in its own look, from a toon island to a painterly steppe and a neon city stacked 500 metres high.
